Members from Lodge Balgonie 764 were joined by guests, including those from sister lodges in the Province of Fife and Kinross and neighbouring regions, to mark the 125th anniversary of the consecration of the Markinch organisation.
Celebrations started with an afternoon gathering led by Rev. Andrew E. Paterson, Provincial Grand Master of the Fife and Kinross province, who spoke highly of the contribution that members had made to Freemasonry over the years.
“Lodge Balgonie is a well known and well respected part of the Markinch community and the work of the membership in its charitable efforts is highly regarded within the Province and beyond,” he said.
The formal part of the celebration concluded in the early evening with a dinner for the Lodge members and visiting guests.
Colin Davie, Master of the Balgonie Lodge, reminded members that, over the past two years, they had donated around £3000 to good causes locally.
A number of special awards were also presented including a 50-year certificate to Drew Cassells who joined the Lodge in 1964, and to George Colville and Jim Aitken, who were presented with Distinguished Service Awards to recognise their services to Lodge Balgonie during their many years as members.
