Freemasons mark 150 years in Banchory

The new Lodge histiry book.

On Saturday July 4 Banchory Freemasons of Lodge St Ternan No 443 will be celebrating 150 years of Freemasonry in the town at the Masonic Temple.

A delegation from the Grand Lodge of Scotland will perform a re-dedication ceremony to mark the occasion, the Deputation will be led by the Depute Grand Master Bro. Ramsay McGhee as the Grand Master Mason Bro. Charles Woolridge Gordon of Esslemont is unable to attend the meeting, the Lodge will tyle at 1pm.

The celebrations will continue after the Lodge meeting with a Dinner at the Ravenswood British Legion Club which will also be attended by wives and guests, the day will finish off with a dance in the evening.

A book has also been published to celebrate the occasion charting the History of the Lodge St Ternan, written by one of the Past Masters of the Lodge Bro. Ross Cook. All the information within the book has been taken from the Minute books that date back to the February 27 1865, when the first meeting was held in the Douglas Arms Hotel. The book takes a year by year look at how the Lodge has developed over the last 150 years.
