Masons give out food baskets at local school

Masons were spreading the blessings of the season Friday morning at Bishop Public School.

The Prince Hall Masonic Lodge No. 9 distributed food baskets to seven families who have children attending Bishop.

Derrick Flowers, worshipful master of the lodge, said the members and prospective members raised money for the food baskets in various ways and also contributed their own money.

Bishop Public School administrators helped the Masons choose seven families in need of a helping hand during the holidays.

Each food basket contained a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional holiday meal, including macaroni and cheese, stuffing, vegetables, rolls, corn muffin mix and cranberry sauce. Each family also received numerous packets of ramen noodles.
