Just a day after an overwhelming approval from Town Meeting members to purchase the property at 33 Marrett Road, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry accepted Lexinton’s $10.95 million offer.
According to a press release from Town Manager Carl Valente sent out on Tuesday, March 19, stated the Trustees of the Supreme Council of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry accepted the bid. Earlier that day, Valente said the Scottish Rite would be delayed making their decision, as their offices were close due to inclement weather. Valente expected a decision for the Board of Selectmen Meeting on Wednesday, March 20.
The discussion of the potential purchase at the Monday, March 18th Town Meeting, lasted just under an hour, and Town Meeting members agreed to endorse the town’s offer to purchase the 9.94-acre property from the Scottish Rite, which abuts the Scottish Rite museum in east Lexington.
