Stamp collection with Masonic theme on display at Stoke Library in Plymouth

Stamp collector Trevor Frey has set up a fascinating exhibition showing off his stamp collections. The stands, at Stoke Library, focus on the theme of freemasonry through philately. Mr Frey, from Beacon Park, said: “I started to collect stamps 65 years ago. In 1975 I started to collect stamps relating to the Masonic theme. “Stamp collecting can be a very interesting, satisfying and educational hobby. Thematic collections can be formed on many subjects. “Masonic philately can cover a great many other themes – well over 1,000 different famous people from all walks of life who are depicted on postage stamps have also been Freemasons.” Mr Frey, who has displayed his collection to many philatelic societies and masonic lodges, also hopes to dispel some myths about Freemasonry.

“I have experienced from time to time people who believe the myths about freemasonry,” he added. “I do hope that these people can come along and see for themselves that freemasonry is not a secret society of dubious character, nor is it a religion or coven of devil worship.”

Mr Frey’s exhibition will be at Stoke Library for the next few weeks.
